BiosTime, Inc. (GuangZhou) was founded by Biostime Pharmaceuticals (China) Limited in 1999. Its Logistics and Quality Control Departments are located in GuangZhou Economic and Technological Development District. Today, BiosTime, Inc. (GuangZhou) has 600 employees and 59 branch offices nationwide in China. Since 2000, collaborating with Lallemand Group, we have been promoting and marketing probiotics and other nutraceutucals in China using brand name “Biostime”. Our key product “Biostime Probiotic Sachet for Children” was licensed as imported health food after two years of function test and registration process by SFDA. Now Biostime sachets, with its reputation of high quality and efficacy, has become the number one brand of children’s probiotic products in China. Currently all the “BIOSTIME 合生元” products are developed and produced in the GMP-standard factories in France. All of our products are imported directly from France. They pass the inspection by the Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of People’s Republic of China and their qualities are guaranteed. In 2005, the volume of Biostime sachets imported through Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Custom reached 50 tons, which is over 30 million sachets. We are one of the 100 companies that paid the most of the custom duty in Baiyun Airport.     

 

       The Lallemand Group has experiences of over 90 years in yeast production and over 70 years in proboitic production. It has two R&D centers and 13 factories worldwide. Its turnover is more than 800 million USD in 2005. It has patented PROBIOCAP and STAR technologies for probiotics protection. It is one of the global leading companies in the field of production, development, and application of yeast and proboitic products. In the first quarter of 2006, Biostime France SARL (a subsidiary of Lallemand and majority of shares held by Lallemand) and Biostime Pharmaceuticals (China) Limited co-invested a GMP-standard factory for Biostime probiotics production in GuangZhou Economic and Technological Development District. The first term of investment is 20 million RMB. The factory will be completed in the third quarter of 2007. The cleanness class of the production area is designed to be the best among all the health food production factories in China. After completion of the second term investment which will be in 2008, the factory will be the largest in China for probiotics production.

 

    The application of traditional probiotic products, usually treated with freeze-drying technology, are very limited because they are very sensitive to humidity, temperature, chemical and physical impacts. Moreover, the viability of traditional probiotics will decrease significantly while passing through digestion tracts due to stomach acid and bile.

     To solve these problems, the R&D department of Lallemand in France has been conducting the researches on the screening of good natural strains, developing effective protection technologies and new formulation. Lallemand scientists have developed special protective technologies to significantly increase the probiotic stability and viability. Now our probiotic products have high resistance to temperature, humidity and stomach acid, and have long shelf life. With these improvements, our probiotics can reach and colonize easily in intestinal tracts.
